Speaking
Students will be able to express evaluation

a.      Act the conversation below
Nita     : what about the history of Mr. Bean ?
Ben     : another history? Not again. My goodness.
Nita     : no, no. We will have the war stopped.
Ben      : that’s my girl. I like wars.
Tom      : back in my country, we do not talk about wars. I think people are tired of wars. We   would prefer working out things that the society needs.
Sofia    : say, how would you react when a strong country attacks a weak one ?
Ben      : that depends. When that country is doing it for the sake of the welfare of the wider world, that should be justified. I like it, you know, when jets loaded with bombs are raiding the enemy quarter. You know, it makes you feel like.. wow.
Nita      : how would you say that some cause is justifiable and others are not. It is justifiable for one country, but it may not for other countries.
Ben      : well, that’s the reality of the world. When you’re strong, you can do anything.
Nita      : that’s a view belonging to a chauvinistic pig.
Tom      : that may be true. But that’s not everything to it. We have certain independent bodies that will give justification: the United Nations, for example.
Sofia    : some people would disagree with that. At times, the United Nations makes rulings which may not be fair for certain countries.
Ben      : well, isn’t that the natural law of life?
Nita      : what do you know about natural laws of life?
Ben      : don’t undermine me, little lady. I’m the expert on that. It happens everywhere. The strong has all the means to rule the world. If you have the money, technology, and the meanpower, you can do just anything you want. All the great leaders of the world are like that.
Tom      : well, it’s not always like that. You’re looking at persons who are usually connected with violence. We also have world leaders who are related to peaceful intentions.
Sofia    : Mahatma Gandhi is one. Well, coming back to wars, we should be agreed on the notion that wars have not always been the best means of resolving conflicts.
Ben      : I don’t know about that. But, I know that it makes them stop arguing effectively and quickly. If you talk and talk, you get nowhere.
Tom      : again, it’s not always like that. We have, in history, so many examples showing that conflicts can be resolved by way of fiplomacy. And it’s better than the violent alternative. We can always see the destructive effects of wars.
Nita      : I’m with you. All agee that conflicts should be resolved by peaceful means, not by wars.
Ben      : and I bet you my life that you and your dreaming pen friends won’t make it.
Sofia    : Tom and Nita are right, that conflicts can be resolved in peaceful ways.
Ben      : have it your way. I’ll have mine.
Nita      : why are you so hard-headed?
Ben      : because the world will be uninteresting without wars.
